The Rocketeer backs Rann!
This just in: The Rocketeer has thrown his support behind fellow jet-packer Adam Strange, and declared he is backing RANN in the big war. "Wings?" the Rocketeer commented, "It's ridiculous. And don't even TALK to me about 9th metal. Jet packs rule! And Hawkman's recent indiscretion was the last straw." Click the pic or here for a bigger version. All-Imp League:
QUISP, The Water Sprite
The underwater Mr. Mxpytlk, Quisp, first appeared in Aquaman #1, drawn by Nick Cardy. Brashly introducing himself to the King of the Seven Seas as "A Water Sprite, of course!" Quisp asks Aquaman and Aqualad to help deal with menacing Fire Trolls.
The Fire Trolls are invulnerable to everything except extreme cold, but there isn't enough of a freezing solution created by a scientist to defeat them.
But then, whackiness ensues! A combination of the freezing spray and Quisps power temporarily shrinks Aquaman and Aqualad, and the two heroes are inspired to defeat the Trolls the same way. Quisp returned several times, notably in Aquaman #10, "War of the Water Sprites," pictured left.
In his most recent appearance came in JLA #28-31, "Crisis Times Five," courtesy of Grant Morrison. Quisp was shocked by Aquaman's then- current "Charles Manson" appearance, so he decided to become "dark" himself. "What sport!" as Quisp put it. He tricked Johnny Thunder's Thunderbolt into fighting the new Johnny Thunder's Thunderbolt, and the two T-Bolts battled it out until the JLA and JSA teamed up to stop them.
So, Quisp became "dark." But apparently he did not become "dark" enough to stop his name from being used for a breakfast cereal. That's right, Quisp the Water Sprite is also Quisp the Cereal from Quaker Oats (see image right)! No wonder the little guy has taken to spelling his name "QWSP." As a newly-minted bad-ass, he probably wanted to distance himself from the puny, purple, propeller-headed, CEREAL Quisp imp! Can you blame him?
